I will be your security and a safe place for your children.
Bible Verse
In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.
Reading Notes
As we know from previous study, to have “fear of the Lord” means to have a deep down, love, respect and even awe for God. It even includes our desire to be with our Lord always. Therefore, the “fear of the Lord” as used in this passage, refers to a strong confidence in God and love for the Lord. It includes knowing the Lord is with us always and provides a fountain of life, for those who seek after Him. Because of Jesus, we have the power of God on our side, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Because of what Jesus did for us and our faith in Him, we are children of God, adopted into the family of God through faith. We now have a relationship with God that was not possible before our faith in Jesus. Because of Jesus we can come before God as His children. In addition Jesus is our place of refuge in times of trouble, He is our strong confidence, when the trials of this world hit their hardest.
We know whatever may happen to us in this world, we shall not fear because we have eternity secured in Christ. Through Jesus we have become children of God and joint-heirs with Him. Therefore, we have security in the knowledge that no matter what we go through God is there. Moreover, God has given us His Holy Spirit to secure us, indwell us and guide us, through the trials at hand. In addition, the Apostle Paul tells us in his letter to the Ephesians, about the armor God has provided for us, to fight the spiritual warfare we know will come. Therefore, we know God looks at us with eternity in mind and we know Jesus will not lose any the Father has placed in His hands. As the Bible tells us, the “elect are predestined,” which means God chose us in Christ before the foundations of the world were put in place. And because of His great love for us, none of us, who have placed our faith in Christ, will be lost. All who belong to Jesus, will make it home to be with Him.
