"Beware of Sin"

Deuteronomy 9:7-29

Moses reminded the Israelites of their fall into sin that angered God against them (7-21). They worshipped the statue of the lord's ox when Moses received the Torah of God on Mount Sinai. They also opposed God in Tabera, in Masa, and in Kibrot-Taawa. They always hurt God's heart so many times God will destroy them. However, Moses always pleaded with God for their salvation. The Lord also forgave them because He remembered His covenant.

Moses pleaded with God for God's wrath to recede over his people. Moses' plea was not intended for the sake of himself and his people, but for God to remember His covenant. The purpose of the salvation of the Israelites was for God to be exalted over the nations.

When we read the story of the Israelites in the Old Testament, we always find out how they were known as a nation that was firmly on the neck. In fact, they had been saved from Egyptian slavery to live in worship of God. They must live according to God's accepted standards, different from nations that do not know God. However, they always failed to obey and fell into various idolatry and rebellion. However, God still loves them.

Like the Israelites, so are we believers today. We are not only saved from sin, but also live to experience the triumph of sin. We need to continue to be aware of our weaknesses and be aware of all sin.

We have a sinful nature of body, blood, and flesh. Sin corrupts the human psyche, and therefore, undermines the social structure of society. Even though we have been saved, we still have a tendency to sin. For this reason, we must consciously desire victory over sin through daily reading and pondering of God's words. We must not underestimate the slightest sin and must turn it off.
